Joanna Garcia, born August 10, 1979 in Tampa, Florida, has been acting in local theater productions since 10 years old. Nickelodeon discovered Joanna Garcia while she was attending the Tampa Catholic High School in Florida. From then on, she appeared on the network’s show “Clarissa Explains It All” in 1991 and on the sci-fi series “SeaQuest DSV.” After starring in the Nickelodeon film “Are You Afraid of the Dark?: The Tale of Orpheo's Curse,” Joanna Garcia joined the TV series “Are You Afraid of the Dark” from 1994 to 1996. During this time, Joanna commuted from Florida to Montreal Canada just to work on the Nickelodeon set every week.
Joanna Garcia then enrolled at The University of Florida and studied for a year in college before dropping out to pursue a full-tine acting career in Los Angeles. After leaving “Are You Afraid of the Dark,” Joanna Garcia appeared on numerous TV shows, including “Step by Step,” “Second Noah,” “From the Earth to the Moon,” “Any Day Now,” “Party of Five,” “Dawson’s Creek,” “Pacific Blue,” “Providence,” “CI5: The New Professionals,” “Freaks and Geeks,” “Opposite Sex,” “Freedom” and “Boston Public.” She also starred on the made-for-TV films “Holy Joe” and “Love’s Deadly Triangle: The Texas Cadet Murder.”
Joanna Garcia made her film debut in 2001, joining the cast of “American Pie 2,” followed by an appearance on another comedy flick “Not Another Teen Movie” that same year. Also in 2001, Joanna Garcia won a recurring role on the TV series “Reba,” portraying Cheyenne Hart-Montgomery until 2007. During her time on the show, Joanna continued to guest-star on other TV shows, such as “Go Fish,” “Going to California,” “Off Centre” and “What I Like About You.” She has also lent her voice for the long-running TV series “Family Guy” and appeared on the made-for-TV feature film “The Initiation of Sarah.”
In 2008, Joanna Garcia became a regular cast on the CW drama series “Privileged” and starred on the CBS sitcom “Welcome to the Captain.” Other film credits of Joanna Garcia include “A-List,” “A Very Merry Daughter of the Bride” and the comedy film “Extreme Movie.”
Joanna currently lives in Los Angeles. If not busy at work, Joanna Garcia participates in various charities and activities, including teaching Los Angeles children English as a second language, raising awareness about cervical cancer through the organization “Make the Commitment” and running her own organization called “We Reach.”
